From Mrs. Koopman: Concord Assistant Principal
Concord Families,
I feel honored to be Concord's assistant principal. I graduated from Wright State University in 2006 with a degree in Middle Childhood Education. I received my Masters of Teacher Education degree in 2007 from Wright State as well. For eight years, I served as a sixth grade ELA and Social Studies Teacher at Van Cleve, the sixth grade building for Troy City Schools. I completed my principal's license coursework through the University of Dayton and I have served as Concord's assistant principal since the 2015-2016 school year. The 2021-2022 school year will be my seventh year as an administrator.
In addition to working with students, I enjoy running, being outdoors, and playing or watching sports with my family. My husband, Brad, is a junior high Science teacher. Our main hobby is making memories with our three children: Noah, Camille, and Ava.
I am happy to be able to meet the needs of students and families that make up Concord Elementary. As a teacher, I had a quote displayed prominently on my desk that read, “Teach as though they are your own children.” I took great responsibility in making sure that I planned effective and engaging lessons that I would want my own three children to experience. That is still my focus- to assist in leading a building where students are considered family and educating them is taken with great care and love.
